Managing your edge devices just got easier. Update your Jetson™-based devices using firmware over-the-air (FOTA) and out-of-band (OOB) management for devices with InnoAGE™ solid-state drives (SSDs).

Updating devices using firmware over-the-air
Use the firmware over-the-air method to manage Jetson™-based devices.

SmartCow devices based on NVIDIA® Jetson™ TX2 NX, Xavier™ NX, AGX, and AGX Orin™ can update their Board Support Packages (BSP) using image-based firmware over-the-air. SmartCow creates an update image that includes the previous BSP, updated BSP, and tools and scripts used during the update. This cloud-hosted payload package is easily available for download.

SmartCow's Update Client is an additional module that integrates with FleetTrackr to automate Jetson™ updates. Using the FleetTrackr UI, you can select which devices and firmware to update. After confirming your selection, each selected device's Update Client automatically pulls the files and performs the update.

Out-of-band management for devices with InnoAGE SSDs

Use out-of-band management method to manage Jetson™-based devices with InnoAGE SSDs.

SmartCow devices with InnoAGE SSD data storage can manage deployed Jetson™ devices even when the device is unresponsive. These SSDs communicate with Linux or Windows hosts over LAN using MQTT.

A general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pin on the SSD is connected to the Jetson's hardware reset pin, enabling you to remotely reset and reboot a Jetson™ device even when it is inaccessible.

The SSD’s hidden backup partition can store redundant copies of SSD partitions like the bootloader, kernel, and root filesystem. If any of these are corrupted or unrecoverable, Jetson™ is inoperable. In such cases, a remote host can send an SSD command to recover the partition, restoring its functionality. After the operation, the device reboots and resumes normal operation.

To summarize, SmartCow Jetson™-based devices are fully integrated, and you can use FleetTrackr to manage devices through FOTA and OOB management methods, resulting in a more cost-effective maintenance solution. Every month, we'll update you on how we're making FleetTrackr more useful to you. Thank you, as always, for being with us!
